What is a Decision Matrix used for?
It is primarily a Planning & Management tool:
  • A Decision Matrix is used to compare projects, issues or options to a set of criteria, in order to establish priority.

Method

  • There are five steps in creating a Decision matrix

  • 1.Identify the items to be prioritised and establish criteria to measure them by

  • 2.List items to be prioritised on a vertical axis

  • 3.List criteria on a horizontal axis

  • 4.Measure each item against each criterion

  • 5.Add scores in each row and enter the totals in the far column of the matrix
