Block your time ...

Updated: Oct 23, 2019

Does time blocking sound too easy to implement in the office environment?

How often are you disturbed with walk-ins which distract you from the task or project you are working on?

Are you led by your task list and emails?

If the answer is yes, then time blocking is for you.

  1. Make a list of all the things you want to accomplish by the end of your working day

  2. Allocate blocks of designated time for specific activities or tasks throughout the day

  3. Choose a quiet location, a meeting or conference room

  4. Let others know you are blocking out times to work on these tasks, and emails will be answered outside of the time block

  5. Put your phone on silent and close your email during this Time Block period

  6. Don't forget to put in a Time Block for Reading and Studying. And how about time for Sorting? How do your web browser favorites look? How about your My Documents folders? Is there some clean up activity you have had pending for a long time?

And the result?

Your most important tasks will be achieved faster, better and with more personal satisfaction.

Try it out, starting today. If you don't try it, you won't know if it works for you.
