9 elements you should use include when creating a successful mentoring program for your organization

1. Statement of purpose

This sets out where mentoring is needed and establishes the goals of the program.

2. Recruitment Strategy

This is creating and distributing literature that informs and entices potential participants to join the program.

3. Orientation Program

This is an event or set of events that clarifies roles, responsibilities, and expectations for mentors and mentees.

4. Eligibility Screening Program

This identifies who is eligible to join the mentoring program.

5. Curriculum

This is a document or set of documents that describes the requirements, goals, policies, and procedures of the mentoring program.

6. Matching Strategy

This considers compatibility, interests, and other elements that might impact the mentor's relationship with a potential mentee.

7. Support Structure and Recognition

This is ongoing support for mentors and mentees throughout the program coupled with a recognition and reward plan.

8. Graduation and Closure Plan

This is some form of ceremony where awards are given to mentors and mentees that clearly marks the end of the mentoring program.

9. Assessment System

This makes sure the matching is effective and the program is running smoothly. Assessments can be made through the use of surveys, questionnaires, and interviews with participants.
